About the role

If you're looking for the right opportunity to be a part of a positive, healthy change, then we're looking for you. Right now, we have an opportunity for a Heath Promoter to join the Northland Bowel Screening Programme in Whangarei.

The position of Health Promoter – Bowel Screening Programme encompasses the following major functions or key result areas:

  • Working in conjunction with the Health Promotion Lead to promote the Northland Bowel Screening Programme across the region, with a strong focus on the Māori, Pacific, and low socioeconomic populations to ensure equitable participation
  • Implementation of effective health promotion strategies and activities targeted to priority populations and low socio-economic populations to ensure equitable participation.
  • Develop initiatives to connect with priority populations across Te Tai Tokerau and provide assistance and support to them to participate in the NDHB NBSP programme
  • Establish and maintain relationships with Māori health providers, iwi and community organisations to find opportunities for building awareness of the programme
  • Work closely with the programme team to continually improve the programme,
  • Increase participant satisfaction and participation through promotion and Outreach activities

Key requirements

  • Has completed, or is completing, a health promotion or relevant tertiary qualification, or has proven experience in a health promotion/community work role
  • Knowledge and experience in the health sector, preferably primary or secondary settings
  • Experience organising/providing for the cultural support needs of Māori and Pacific people using health services
  • Planning, organizing and evaluating health promotion events for the Māori and Pacific  communities
    • Designing and delivering presentations and activities to inform groups about health services

This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week.
