About the role
This newly created role reports to the GM People & Capability and provides operational and strategic oversight across health, safety, and compliance functions. With national site responsibilities, you'll work closely with local teams, lead a small but experienced team, and influence Health and Safety outcomes from policy to practice. The role is Auckland-based with flexibility across multiple satellite sites and requires regular travel to regional operations.
  
Duties
  • Lead and support national Health and Safety strategy and operational implementation
  • Mentor and coach field-based staff and HS team members
  • Conduct audits, investigations and drive continuous improvement
  • Maintain ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
Partner with senior leaders and frontline teams to embed safety culture
  
About you
This is not safety from behind a desk, this is practical safety in a high-risk operational environment where you can effectively communicate safety solutions to a varied workforce. Successful candidates will be equally comfortable working at a leadership level – translating legislation and safety data into relatable content.  
  • Solid health and safety leadership in complex, high-risk sectors
  • ICAM investigation and ISO systems experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Effective communicator – practical and relatable style
  • Strategic thinker with operational adaptability
