  • Permanent part-Time working 16 hours per week on a roster covering days/afternoons and evenings.

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in people - s lives? Do you have a caring nature and want to support patients in their journey to better health? We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated team in the Acute Stabilisation Unit at Buller Health.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing high-quality, patient-centred care in a rural health setting. 

About the Role

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the clinical team to deliver safe and effective care. Working under the delegation of registered clinical staff, you will provide direct patient support and carry out essential administrative and logistical duties within the ward.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting personal cares and activities of daily living.
  • Assisting with meal deliveries and ward monitoring during handovers and MDTs.
  • Collecting patient lifestyle data and assisting with basic health education.
  • Restocking and ordering clinical supplies.
  • Acting as a chaperone and assisting with patient flow and communication.
  • Maintaining accurate records and supporting administrative tasks such as data entry and appointment coordination. 

About you

Essential:

  • NCEA Level 2 - 3 (including passes in English and Maths) or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong initiative, attention to detail, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and professional standards.

Desirable:

  • NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3), Health Assistant strand.
  • Previous experience in hospital, aged care, or primary care settings.
  • Computer literacy and administrative experience.
  • Knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi and a commitment to equity and cultural safety.
