About the role
The Medical Assessment Unit is closely linked to the Emergency Department and other front-line services, so variety is a key element in this busy but rewarding role.
The unit is responsible for streamlining the assessment and admission of non-critically ill medical patients and accommodates and cares for them for up to 24 - 36 hours so there is ample opportunity to make a difference for patients during what can be a vulnerable and scary experience.
This role will see you primarily focusing your attention to the overall needs of the unit. This role is within a clinical environment, and as an exceptional team player you will need to be able to take instruction and direction from the nurses on the ward, whilst having a helpful and team focused approach to making a real difference to the patients under our care.
As Healthcare Assistant you will be involved in the following:
- Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team
- Patient supervision and/or movement
- Patient cares, as required
- Stock reconciliation
- Ward maintenance
- Patient watch, with one-on-one care as required

Salary range
This role belongs to the expired NZNO Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($60,100 p.a.) and Step 5 ($70,358 p.a.) of the HCA scale.
