Overview:

Are you a skilled Maintenance Engineer / Technician looking for an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact? Our client, a leading mechanical engineering firm with global distribution, is seeking a talented individual to maintain and enhance their mowing assets across three vibrant Tauranga properties. This role is pivotal in ensuring maximum facility uptime, safety, and efficient production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Asset Maintenance and Uptime:
    • Conduct routine checks and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal uptime.
    • Collaborate with departments to plan and approve maintenance activities, minimizing disruptions.
  • Contractor Coordination:
    • Oversee contractors for specialized services, maintaining high safety, financial, and quality standards.
    • Ensure projects are delivered within scope, budget, and timeline while safeguarding all personnel.
  • Cost Management:
    • Strategically manage asset ownership costs to meet Capex and Opex budgets.
    • Maintain accurate records of spares and consumables, ensuring timely replenishment and cost control.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing quality, safety, and efficiency enhancements.
    • Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to execute improvement initiatives.
  • Production Support:
    • Participate in weekly planning meetings, addressing any issues that could impact production.
    • Proactively resolve constraints to maximize production schedules and exceed customer expectations.
  • Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance:
    • Regularly inspect and maintain fleet vehicles to ensure compliance with WOF and COF standards.
    • Ensure vehicles are safe, compliant, and reflect the company's professional image.
  • Training and Development:
    • Educate team members on best practices for asset use and maintenance.
    • Encourage departmental ownership of asset maintenance.
  • General Maintenance Tasks:
    • Tackle handyman tasks, including plumbing, painting, and building repairs, as needed.
    • Maintain a digital to-do list, ensuring timely completion of all tasks.
  • Other Duties:
    • Provide flexible support across departments to ensure smooth business operations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with staff and contractors.
  • Proven experience in mechanical and electrical asset maintenance (5+ years).
  • Extensive experience in a production environment (5+ years).
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficient in numeric, computer, and literacy skills.
  • Competent with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and maintenance systems.
  • Experience in fabrication and turning.
  • Preferred qualifications: Contractor management, forklift license, working at heights qualification.
