About the Role
We are seeking RMOs with at least two years of post-graduate experience to join our Intensive Care team at Tauranga Hospital. This permanent, full-time position has been created to support the expansion of our ICU and will commence in July 2025.
About the Team/Service/Location
We are a level II ICU per College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) definitions. Our referral centres are Waikato and Auckland. Our clinical lead is a Fellow of CICM. We are a ten bedded closed ICU, with capacity for six ventilated and four HDU patients. We will soon be expanding the unit to 16 total beds, with capacity for eight ventilated.
Our surge planning includes the ability to ventilate 16 to 22 patients with reduced nursing ratios. We currently employ approximately 55 FTE of nurses, with 70 permanent nursing staff. The ICU admits between 1000 and 1200 patients per year, a mix of paediatric, acute medical and surgical and elective surgical cases. A specialised transport nurse and helicopter are available every day. ICU doctors are required to assist on some transports.

- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
