The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) is the heart of Aotearoa New Zealand's cyber defence. We fulfil the cyber security responsibilities of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, to detect and disrupt high-impact cyber threats nationally.
The role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Level 2 CND System Engineer to join our team at the Frontline of National Cyber Defence.
We're seeking an exceptional CND Systems Engineer driven by a passion for engineering, designing, and maintaining cutting-edge Computer Network Defence (CND) and investigative infrastructure. In this critical role, you'll be at the forefront of enhancing GCSB's capability to detect, disrupt, and deter the most sophisticated cyber threats facing New Zealand—directly contributing to the protection of our nation.

Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is task and goal oriented. You'll be capable of building and maintaining strong relationships, possess breadth and depth of technical knowledge as a subject matter expert and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning. In addition to this, we'd like to see the following in your application:
- Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) or similar or proven equivalent experience
- 3+years' experience in designing, implementing and managing enterprise network infrastructure as a practitioner, and a good working knowledge of Linux and Windows systems as a Level 2 Network Engineer
- Experience with DevOps and GitOps automation technologies, including CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code and containerisation

You must:
- Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years
OR
Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
- Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
- Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.

The appointment range for this role is $103,009 - $109,876.
