This role supports the Manager Assurance and Audit with providing internal assurance, audit services and advice. While not a requirement, candidates should have a good knowledge of public sector good practice guidelines.

In this team, you will receive training, guidance, and given opportunities to grow in the role to be the best you can be.

You'll be part of the Te Urungi - the Māori, Strategy and Performance Branch which provides direction, oversight, leadership, and advice across the Department through a broad range of corporate functions including risk and assurance, strategy leadership, performance reporting, governance services, legal advice, and more. You will work closely with leaders across the business to provide expert assurance, audit advice and services. In doing so, you will help to uplift the standards and contribute to the maturity of the Department's control environment and practices, the effectiveness of its risk and assurance system, and uphold integrity and accountability.

To be a good fit in this role, you will

  • Hold relevant tertiary qualifications and
  • Have a minimum of 2 years audit experience,
  • Understand internal auditing standards, methodology, and processes
  • Have excellent formal writing skills, active listening, and verbal communication skills
  • Have strong analytical and critical thinking skills and an eye for detail
  • Be a great team player and can work independently when necessary
