Mō te tūnga | About the role
Reporting to the Chief Legal Advisor you will contribute directly to the successful operations of the legal team. The team is responsible for providing guidance and operational advice in relation to housing legislation (eg. the Residential Tenancies Act), grant funding, services contracting, privacy and development of policy and legislation, as well as the Ministry's corporate business.
This is a varied role that encompasses operational and public law advice, work on commercial and property transactions, and the opportunity to work on the development of legislation. You will be responsible for providing high-quality, timely, accurate and practical legal support in a dynamic context and in a variety of forms, ranging from legal due diligence and contract draftingto oral and written advice. You will take the lead on some assignments while contributing to the team's overall programme of work.
This Wellington-based position offers a salary range starting from $66,726 (graduate level) up to $93,090 depending on the level of experience, with a 3% Kiwisaver contribution included.

Junior level solicitor with previous work experience

Holds or entitled to hold a practising certificate

Awareness of, and sensitivity to, the cultural values of different ethnic groups generally, and Tangata Whenua in particular
