Our Te Waipounamu tīma is looking for an experienced and motivated innovator looking for a challenge that allows you to lead Māori economic development and community resilience work with Hapū, Iwi, Māori organisations and their communities.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in our Waihopai tari/Invercargill office.
Te whai wāhitanga | The opportunity
As a Senior Advisor you will be the champion and promoter of the Te Puni Kōkiri investment strategy to enable better outcomes for Māori. Working alongside and supporting your colleagues across Te Waipounamu region you will form enduring relationships while understanding the context of your region. This includes:
- Supporting the region to deliver on the work programme.
- Supporting the Regional Director and Team Leader to build a strong presence for Te Puni Kōkiri in the region to support the implementation of Government policies.
- Providing mentoring and coaching to Advisors within the region.
- Managing the flow of information between Māori and the Policy puni for programme evaluation\Manage local level provider contracts including reporting and funding approvals.
The likely appointment range is $104,056 to $115,617, based on skills and experience. The full grade for this role is $104,056 to $138,741 with a mid-point of $115,617.
Mōu | About you
To be successful in this role you will:
- Currently live in Murihiku within daily commuting distance to the regional office in Waihopai from Monday to Friday.
- Have strong relationships in Murihiku with Papatipu Rūnanga and Ngā Maata waka communities and the ability to actively manage significant relationships, to value diverse perspectives and experiences.
- Commercial experience with keen analytical skills and the ability to identify and support possible economic development and community growth opportunities.
- Have experience working with whānau, hapū, iwi, Māori organisations and communities.
- Have a high level of understanding of the machinery of Government, public service and public sector processes that ensure the impartiality of Public Servants.
- Have an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi/Te Tiriti ō Waitangi and recognise the importance of the Treaty/Tiriti from both Māori and Crown perspectives.
- A level of competency in te reo Māori, or a willingness to learn.
- Clean full drivers licence.
