We are looking for an experienced Senior Engagement Advisor to work alongside the sector relationship managers, communications team and the Resource Management Reform project team to implement the engagement and relationship management plan for the reform programme. 

This fixed-term role will work with engagement and communications leads, and subject matter experts in the resource management policy and implementation team, to plan and implement engagement activities and events that inform our work. 

You will create opportunities for dialogue, advice and feedback using mechanisms and channels that are targeted to our partners and key stakeholder groups. You will be responsible for ensuring engagement activities are aligned with best practice and follow the Ministry's engagement principles and standards, and work with processes and systems across the wider organisation.  

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the expertise of our partners and key stakeholders  are understood and represented within the resource management reform's core work programme.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have extensive senior experience in engagement with a sound understanding of the machinery of government and how ministries work alongside partners and stakeholders to develop and implement government policy
  • The ability to establish strong relationships with engagement and communications practitioners, policy and implementation teams 
  • The ability to create engagement opportunities that bring people together to inform our work and ensure it is fit for purpose when reaching implementation 
  • Be able to build on and implement the overarching stakeholder engagement and relationship management approach, working alongside key sector advisors  
  • Lead stakeholder analysis, coordinate activity and identify risks and opportunities in a complex and fast paced environment 
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to connect and build strong relationships with others. You will be able to take on a range of tasks, including reporting and other activities. A can-do attitude, strong customer-focus and being a team player are key attributes in this role 
  • Ideally have knowledge of the resource management system and the reform programme in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Experience of managing advisory groups would also be beneficial. 

Whānuitanga Utu ā-Tau | Salary range

Salary range for this role is $108,976 - $132,277pa.  Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
