About the Role
The Lead Integration Engineer plays a critical role in delivering robust integration engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of programmes, projects, and products. This role is accountable for overseeing the end-to-end integration lifecycle, ensuring that technical solutions meet defined standards and align with organisational objectives. Working closely with cross-functional teams including product owners, technical specialists, vendors, support services, and business stakeholders the Lead Integration Engineer ensures that integration outcomes are consistently high-quality and fit for purpose. In addition to technical leadership, the role is responsible for guiding and mentoring other Integration Engineers, setting clear delivery expectations, and fostering a supportive and high-performing team environment. This position also contributes to the continuous improvement of integration practices and capabilities across the organisation.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Lead Integration Engineer reports into the Manager Integration Development, which sits within the Digital Applications & Products function. The focus of this function is on reducing duplication and improving alignment across integration, application, and product teams, with a strong emphasis on delivering seamless, secure, and scalable integration solutions. Teams are structured around the programmes, projects, and products they support, enabling standardised processes and consistent outcomes across the organisation. Organised into service portfolios and domains, this structure ensures integration delivery aligns with business objectives while driving continuous improvement and national standardisation efforts.
About you
You are a seasoned integration leader with a strong technical foundation and a passion for delivering seamless, reliable, and scalable integration solutions. You bring a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to innovation and operational excellence. As a leader, you inspire cross-functional teams including product, technical, vendor, and support groups to adopt best practices in integration engineering and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on integration and systems architecture.
- At least 5 years' experience leading technical teams or projects, demonstrating effective leadership and project management skills.
- Extensive expertise with integration technologies and methodologies, including APIs, web services, messaging systems, and data integration tools
- Proven track record in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex integration solutions within large-scale environments.
