Te Ao Mārama is a judicially-led Kaupapa that aims to improve the experience for all people who participate in the court system, including victims and whānau. By partnering with iwi and engaging with communities, Te Ao Mārama will be designed to best serve each community's specific needs.

A multi-disciplinary roopu has been established to design, develop, and deliver the programme. We are seeking a Manager, Advisory Services to join our programme's management team, providing thought leadership on strategic, operational, and complex policy matters to support the delivery of Te Ao Mārama.

This is a fixed term role until December 2025, and we would ideally like someone that can start immediately to help deliver this transformative programme of work.

You will work closely with teams across the Ministry of Justice and the wider Justice Sector. The programme is now in its final stages, focusing on transitioning Te Ao Mārama initiatives into Business-as-Usual teams.

We're looking for someone who finds fulfilment in leading a team of multi-disciplined professionals, and who enjoys developing their people to deliver outstanding results.

In this role, you will:

  • lead a small team managing multiple priorities, providing advice to Ministers, senior officials, and the judiciary, while supporting programme transition activities through the development of tools and resources to enable change
  • keep your commitment to growing and supporting your team at the heart of everything you do
  • provide high-quality advice to the programme and thrive on the challenge of responding to ministerial.

This is the ideal opportunity for a people leader who thrives on strategic thinking and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves when needed.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • proven leadership experience in complex organisations, ideally within the public sector.
  • strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • a deep understanding of public sector processes and the Machinery of Government.
  • excellent relationship management and communication skills.
  • knowledge of te reo me ngā tikanga Māori in policy and strategic contexts (or a commitment to developing this capability).

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The appointing salary for this role will be between $129,129 and $179,192 based on skills and experience.
