Do you have a passion for heritage places and want to make a difference in its conservation and enjoyment? Do you want to have meaningful engagement with iwi and hapū, local authorities, communities and stakeholders, and with visitors and travelers through properties within the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga portfolio

Based in Wellington – Ref 14

Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga is Aotearoa New Zealand's leading bicultural heritage agency. We provide recognition, protection, and support for heritage places throughout the country.  We look for individuals with enthusiasm and skill to manage properties, staff, and visitors in our varied heritage portfolio. These roles sit within dynamic regional teams that champion heritage - making it relevant for current and future generations.

We're looking for a heritage asset manager to provide oversight for the operation of our heritage properties in the Central Region, including Old St Paul's, Old Government Buildings, Hurworth and Te Pōrere redoubt/pā.

Heritage Asset Managers are responsible for the conservation, promotion, and management of properties, in accordance with the organisation's strategy. This includes managing and developing business operations, enhancing visitor experiences to promote growth and diversity in our audience, delivering a repair and maintenance programme, and providing motivational leadership to staff working at our properties.

We are seeking a hands-on manager and strategic thinker with experience in team leadership and both operational and project management. You'll need a strong appreciation of our heritage, history, and culture, and a willingness to work in a bicultural organisation. Excellent relationship-building skills, creativity and a high level of emotional intelligence are essential.  These roles require some travel and, although not a requirement, experience with heritage and commercial leases could be an advantage.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing team in a stimulating environment!
