Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
We're looking for a Manager Health, Safety and Wellbeing Standards and Process Design to lead the development and implementation of our HSW Management System. In this role, you'll shape policy, processes, and standards aligned to international frameworks, ensuring the Agency meets its legal obligations and fosters a safe, healthy, and thriving workplace.
You'll work across the organisation and with external partners to:
- Design and lead process mapping to identify risks, controls, and integration opportunities
- Develop and implement HSW policies, standards, and guidance
- Lead a team to deliver high-quality documentation and insights
- Monitor emerging trends and legislative updates
- Oversee wellbeing programmes and psychosocial risk management

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $156,458 - $191,000 of band commensurate with skills and experience.
Ko koe tēnei | About you
You'll bring:
- Proven experience in developing and implementing management systems and programs
- Strong understanding of process design and integration
- Experience in data analysis and reporting, including executive-level insights
- Experience preparing executive level and governance papers
- Understanding of the use of international standards and leading management practices (i.e. contemporary safety)
- Understanding and experience in Health, Safety and Wellbeing
- Legal knowledge relevant to HSW and the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015
- Interest in research and continuous improvement
- People leadership experience and ability to manage multiple demands
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, science, business, legal, or related disciplines (or equivalent industry experience)
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public service.

Our team leads the HSW strategy, develops standards and tools, and partners across the organisation to embed a proactive safety culture.
