Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced professional to join our Safety & Wellbeing (S&W) Lead Team.
As the Manager Safety & Wellbeing Business Partners, you will manage the S&W Business Partners (BPs) to ensure effective delivery of our operational plans. Your efforts will directly contribute to the successful execution of complex projects and the ongoing safety and wellbeing of our team and the wider business.
You'll be involved in supporting essential risk management work and responding to critical incidents, playing a pivotal part in the operational safety framework. With increasing exposure to occupational health risks (such as hearing, dust, and heat exposure), your work will focus on mitigating these risks and ensuring a safe working environment for all.
As part of the S&W Lead Team, you will lead efforts to ensure compliance with safety standards while also supporting a variety of critical “go live” projects, navigating the challenges of an evolving work environment.
Your key areas of focus will include
- Lead and inspire the S&W team to drive safety and wellbeing initiatives that make a real impact on operations.
- Provide subject matter expertise and competent advice to business unit leaders.
- Take charge of managing critical incidents, ensuring swift and effective responses while liaising with Worksafe and other regulators.
- Lead the charge on risk assessments, using advanced methods like HAZOP and Bowtie to develop and implement practical safety controls.
- Empower teams with essential safety training and resources, helping to build a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.
- Foster a “Safety Always” culture and ensure the application of ALARP principles
Mōu - About you
You'll have a boots on the ground approach, ensuring the safety & wellbeing of our employees across all locations. With a wealth of experience in both S&W and people leadership, you'll have the proven ability to collaborate with operational leaders and lead change in complex and evolving environments.
You'll combine all of this with
- A recognised tertiary level qualification in health and safety
- Expertise in safety investigations (ICAM) and risk analysis (HAZOP, Bowtie).
- Advanced knowledge of the HSW Act and its regulations.
- Proven experience in incident management and emergency response.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development in unionized environments.
- Practical knowledge of Safety II principles and critical risk control development.
