Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As Manager System Interventions you'll lead a team of regulatory experts responsible for NZTA's response to the detection of non-compliance across the Safety Camera System. Drawing on your regulatory leadership experience you'll guide enforcement decision-making across business groups, ensuring alignment with Tu ake tu maia, NZTA's regulatory strategy.
This a great opportunity to build and lead a team that responds to escalated non-compliance, ensuring that subject-matter expertise is applied effectively to the risk and complexity associated of each case. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the delivery of all Court proceedings, including defended hearings and alternative resolutions in response to a detection of road user non-compliance from a safety camera
- Providing oversight of safety camera enforcement decision outcomes, including the effective oversight of expert advice provided to advisory groups and external stakeholders and ensuring that the agency's response to road user non-compliance across business groups adheres to agreed operational frameworks
- Utilising data and insights to lead regular reviews of our decision-making and enforcement processes for quality and continuous improvement opportunities, and leading initiatives to design and embed improvement opportunities

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $156,458 to $208,610 per annum commensurate to skills and experience.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in a leadership role within a regulatory environment
- Experience applying legislation, strategy, and policy in a regulatory environment
- Experience using data and insights to lead and improve decision making, processes and delivery outcomes, preferably in a regulatory environment
- Analytical, critical, and strategic thinking in a complex environment
- Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills with proven ability to influence and build credibility with people at all levels
- You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector
Qualifications:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, equivalent experience and/or professional certification/accreditation.

This role is part of the Safety Camera System, which is responsible for operating a network of safety cameras that encourages road users to abide by road rules (such as speed limits), and contribute towards a reduction in deaths and serious injuries on New Zealand roads. The system covers activities across education, engagement and enforcement that are delivered through multiple NZTA business groups working together under the direction of the Senior Manager, Safety Camera System (in Te Ropu Waeture Regulatory Services).
