We have an exciting role, based at Auckland City Hospital. Here we are inviting applications for the Medical Laboratory Scientist position in the Serology Unit, LabPLUS. This is a permanent role with 1.0FTE/40 Hours per week. A significant component of the work uses indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) methodology and applicants will be expected to detail their experience and expertise using this technique. Apart from the IIF methodology applicants must be able to showcase their practical experience using a range of manual, semi-automated and fully automated methods for serological (antibody) diagnostic testing. Key personal skills we are looking for in candidates are those who (a) are adept at task-switching (b) can remain focussed on task(s) when under pressure and (c) are comfortable in a work environment that can demand high flexibility.

This position consists of 24 hr rostered shifts Monday - Sunday.

About you

As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • NZ Registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • You should have formal qualification in the subject of diagnostic Immunology
  • Minimum 2 years practical experience within the speciality is required
  • Good communication skills and a strong knowledge of analytical and quality processes
  • Must have an attention to detail with a strong focus on quality together with a can-do attitude to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
