About the role

The Inpatient Mental Health Unit is a purpose-built modern facility where care is provided by a multidisciplinary team with a broad background of experience. We work in close partnership with community teams, allied health care professionals and local education providers to facilitate a working environment that is supportive, challenging and reflects evidence of ongoing professional growth whilst meeting the needs of a diverse population with mental illness.

Our mental health assistants are key members who assist and support our nursing and allied health staff to ensure an effective and efficient service in the Inpatient Mental Health Unit.

About you:

  • A positive attitude and very good communication skills, be able to take direction and work well as part of team
  • Confident in providing support and assisting patients; be motivated, display initiative, be patient focused at all times and be able to adapt to a changing, and at times challenging, environment
  • Computer literacy is essential and experience working with people in the health sector is an advantage, it would also be desirable to have an understanding/knowledge of Te Reo Māori

Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA and the salary will be in accordance with the MHA Pay Scale, between $59,024 and $74,442 p.a. pro-rata dependant on relevant experience.
