About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Midwife to fulfil a fixed term position at Te Whatu Ora Lakes. We are a busy secondary care maternity unit, overseeing 1250 births per annum, with a full range of secondary obstetric services.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Provision of clinical midwifery services in accordance with the Midwifery Council scope of practise
  • Provision of primary and secondary maternity services as part of our inter-disciplinary clinical teams
  • Being committed to maintaining clinical skills in accordance with organisational best practice guidelines
  • Being committed to continuous quality improvement activities

About you

The successful application will have:

  • Current New Zealand Registration and Annual Practicing Certificate Midwifery Certificate. 
  • Recent clinical experience in midwifery practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all stakeholders.
  • Commitment to being a team player .
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
