We are currently seeking a candidate interested in serving as a member on the Haeata Community Campus School Board. The position is available for a term that will conclude with the triennial board elections in 2028.

 

School Boards operate as Crown entities, serving as the employer of school staff while shaping the school's overarching strategic direction. Board members play a crucial role in ensuring educational plans are effectively established and that the school's objectives are met, ultimately benefiting all students, their families and whānau.

 

Are you the right fit?

 

We are looking for experienced board members who bring a well-rounded set of skills and expertise, including:

 

  • A strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, Pacific perspectives, chronic health considerations, and/or learning support to ensure the needs of Māori, Pacific communities, and students requiring learning support are well represented.
  • An active commitment to enacting the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity
  • Familiarity with government education priorities.
  • Knowledge of school governance systems and structures.
  • Interest in and/or relevant experience.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with a commitment to innovation.
  • Strong teamwork abilities, excellent communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Sound judgement and the confidence to ask critical questions.
  • Experience or knowledge in key areas such as education, finance, law, property, or human resources.

    1. Your interest and/or experience in school governance, including relevant examples.
    2. Your engagement and experience working with students requiring specialist education or learning support, as well as Māori and Pacific students, with supporting examples.
    3. Other relevant knowledge, skills, personal attributes, and experience that align with the appointment, accompanied by examples.
    4. Clearly state and elaborate on your interest in Haeata Community Campus noting the values of the school.
  • Provide the names, daytime telephone numbers, and email contact details of two referees who can confirm your expertise and qualifications for this position. Please note that referees must not be Ministry of Education employees.
  • Submit a candidate statement (maximum of 400 words) outlining your background, experience, qualifications, and any other key information you believe the Ministry should consider during the selection process. This statement will be included in the materials presented to the Panel.
  • Complete the Board Eligibility declaration as part of your application.
