About the Role

We have an opportunity for a National Manager, Immunisation to join our Intelligence team in a key leadership role. This is a critical strategic and delivery role in Intelligence, and in NPHS, reflecting the priority of our national Health Target to protect our children and communities through immunisation. The primary purpose of the role is to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of immunisation reporting, insight, and intelligence products, to inform decision-makers and our health services on the ground.

This role will lead and deliver on the NPHS Intelligence for Immunisation strategy, building on the incredible immunisation technology and data ecosystem that we have built in NPHS and Te Whatu Ora. We have a world-leading data environment to support our health target, and we need an innovative, strategic, and visionary leader to deliver a robust and timely evidence base, that leverages from the opportunities of integrated datasets.  

About the Team/Service/ Location

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.

About you

You will collaborate closely with colleagues across NPHS to plan, develop and deliver high-quality products and services aligned with the strategic aims of the Directorate, and that meet our partners requirements. You will manage your team and the national and regional immunisation work programmes with rigour, reliability, and enthusiasm for this important work. You are able to think strategically and be excited to innovate. You are comfortable in emergency response situations (such as an outbreak of a vaccine-preventable disease like measles), and with ambiguous and fast-paced environments. You are also confident to represent Intelligence at senior leadership forums, including Ministerial, ELT, external stakeholder and NPHS meetings.

As a National Manager in Intelligence, you are expected to be a present, visible leader, committed to foster an in-person (where feasible) environment and culture.  

Skills and Experience

  • A relevant graduate qualification
  • Able to draw on extensive specialised work experience leading analysis, informatics or other technical teams
  • Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
  • Proven experience in understanding opportunities from technology and thinking ambitiously and courageously around potential to improve and advance
  • Proven ability to lead large scale, multi programme/project coordination and delivery across diverse functions, at a senior level 
  • Experience managing a team in a complex environment with diverse stakeholders, including solid experience in coaching, mentoring and managing people
  • Able to successfully develop and maintain a structured approach to managing a wide range of stakeholder and professional relationships both internally and externally 
  • Proven experience in planning and executing a strategic plan
  • Proven ability to tailor complex messages to a range of audiences including clinical, government, executive/senior managers and the public 
  • With the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environment
