About the Role
As a Nurse Educator within the PDU, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the professional development of nurses across the Waikato District and the wider Te Manawa Taki region. This role is grounded in evidence-based educational practice and clinical leadership, with a focus on identifying learning needs, designing responsive education, and evaluating outcomes to ensure high-quality, safe, and culturally responsive care.
We are currently seeking educators in the following clinical areas:
- Emergency Nursing
- Nursing Resource Team
- General Surgery
- High Acuity Nursing
You will also contribute to the development of undergraduate students and new graduate nurses, working alongside a team of experienced educators and clinical leaders to design and deliver structured, competency-based learning pathways.

About You
We are looking for nurse educators who bring both clinical expertise and a passion for teaching. You will have:
- A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a demonstrated commitment to improving Māori health outcomes.
- A minimum of five years’ post-registration experience, including at least four years in a New Zealand clinical setting.
- Proven experience in facilitating and assessing learning in clinical environments.
- Expert or Proficient level on the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP), with a commitment to ongoing advancement.
- A relevant adult teaching qualification (e.g., preceptorship, adult education).
- Postgraduate study in a relevant field.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams.
- New Zealand driver's license.
