About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Hand Therapist to join our dedicated team. As a Hand Therapist, you will play a vital role in helping patients regain their independence and improve their quality of life after hand and upper limb injuries or surgeries. Ideally, we are looking for an experienced hand therapist, preferably with experience in providing care to clients with traumatic upper limb conditions. However, will review occupational therapists and physiotherapists with hand assessment, treatment experience

About the Team/Service
You will be based at the Meade Clinical Centre located on the Waikato Hospital campus, with the potential for visits to our rural hospitals in order to provide clinical input. Our organisation is a tertiary hospital trauma service, and as such has a wide range of complex injuries coming through our doors. We enjoy close proximity and working relationships with the plastics and orthopaedic surgeons and are looking for someone who understands the value of collaborative working.
About you
- Registration and current annual practicing certificate (or in the process of obtaining) with either Te Poari Whakaora Ngangahau o Aotearoa or Te Poari Tiaki Tinana o Aotearoa (the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand or the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand).
- Ideally, the applicant will also be a Registered or Associate Member of Hand Therapy New Zealand.
- An ability to live and lead the Waikato District values of Whakamana (Give and earn respect), Whakarongo (Listen to me; talk to me), Mauri Pai (Fair Play), Whakapakari (Growing the good), Kotahitanga (Stronger Together).
- A commitment to achieving excellent clinical and business outcomes based on quality service delivery and outstanding and empathetic patients care.
- A sound grounding in upper limb anatomy, from fingertip to cervical spine
- Experience supervising student and junior practitioners, preferred but not essential
- An ability to work autonomously completing comprehensive clinical assessments, as well as use adult teaching principles to engage health consumers.
- A strong team focus, and excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- A full clean New Zealand driver’s license.
