The role

As our Operational Advisor you will provide operational security advice across the full range of New Zealand Security Intelligence Service collection activities. Your role will provide independent oversight of, and confidence in, the safety and security of NZSIS operational collection efforts. Preference will be given to Wellington-based applicants.

You will bring significant operational experience in intelligence collection and the provision of best practice security and risk management advice. Your ability to identify and understand contemporary risks to the NZSIS and its operational activities will be an important part of your success.

A key part of this role will be developing and maintaining strong relationships, as you will be working closely with practitioners on the development and delivery of operational plans.

Before you apply

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:

  • Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years

  • Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
    • Ordinarily, this means you'll have a 15 year checkable background in countries NZSIS Vetting can make meaningful and reliable checks.
