Job Description

Position: Operations/Divisional Manager
Location: Hawkes Bay

Are you ready to take the next step to build your career in the growing Steel Reinforcing Industry
We are on a mission to fill a position for our client who is a market leader in the Central North Island. We're seeking an experienced and motivated individual with a hands-on approach to lead the Hawkes Bay division – someone who thrives in a dynamic, customer-focused environment and wants to make a real impact in the steel manufacturing industry.
As the divisional Manager, you will be at the heart of our operations – managing everything from sales and estimating to quotations and customer relationships, all while keeping your finger on the pulse of the market, competition and industry trends. This also involves leading internal staff and external contractors along with maintaining client relationships and ensure project commitments are met with professionalism.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead and manage sales, estimating, detailing and quoting functions for a supply-only manufacturing business.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and maintain our reputation for quality, integrity and performance.
  • Work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered smoothly and to a high standard.
  • Take ownership of variation measurement, pricing, claims, forecasting and project negotiation.
  • Guide and oversee estimators and detailers to ensure timely and accurate delivery.
  • Read and interpret construction plans to produce timely estimates for steel reinforcing tenders.
  • Collaborate with management to influence future projects and stock planning.
  • Ensure all manufacturing orders meet factory capacity, lead times and credit requirements.

This Role Is for You If You:
  • Enjoy a hands-on leadership role with real influence on company growth and customer satisfaction.
  • Have experience in construction, estimating or detailing, particularly in steel reinforcing or similar industries.
  • Are a proven operations manager from a related industry or are ready to take that next step into this role.
  • Possess strong business acumen and are ready to step up into management or bring leadership skills into a new industry.
  • Excel in relationship-building, including contractors, customers and suppliers.
  • Are a problem-solver who thrives under pressure and works well with others.
  • Have a strong understanding of H&S practices and promote a safe and responsible work environment.
  • Are adaptable and multi-skilled, willing to take on diverse tasks to help the team succeed.

What We Offer:
  • A leadership opportunity within a growing, progressive company.
  • Support from a committed team and senior management.
  • Career development for individuals looking to move into leadership or business management roles.
  • The chance to make your mark in an essential and expanding market.
  • To join a nationwide business with a strong reputation in the building and manufacturing sectors. You’ll be joining a down-to-earth, supportive team where performance, initiative and integrity are genuinely valued and rewarded.
