About the Role

As an Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality trauma care to patients in Ōtautahi Christchurch and the greater Te Waipounamu region. You will work alongside a dedicated and experienced orthopaedic team, managing acute trauma cases and contributing to the ongoing education of registrars and junior medical staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a tertiary hospital environment with a high volume of complex trauma cases, providing you with both clinical challenge and professional satisfaction. Your role will also include participating in an on-call roster, involvement in clinical governance, and the potential to contribute to orthopaedic research and innovation.

About You

You will be a committed and experienced Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest and expertise in trauma surgery. You will also demonstrate:

  • Vocational registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent qualification
  • Advanced training and experience in orthopaedic trauma, ideally within a tertiary setting
  • A collaborative approach to multidisciplinary care and service development
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring junior doctors and surgical trainees
