The Opportunity

A fantastic opportunity to work in General & Subspecialty Paediatrics at Waikato Hospital in New Zealand has arisen.

We are seeking a general paediatrician with an interest and experience in paediatric neurodevelopment to join our dedicated team of paediatricians who are committed to providing excellent service to the tamariki/children in the Waikato. The position includes participation in the on call roster and general paediatric outpatient clinics.

As a service our highest priorities include commitment to equity-based service delivery, excellence of paediatric care, optimal team-based working and teaching and training of junior doctors.

To apply for this position, you must hold or be eligible to apply for a vocational scope of practice in Paediatrics with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Efficient and effective assessment and management of patients that follow accepted professional guidelines
  • Research and study relating to the treatment of a specific patient
  • Clinical advice and support to other staff
  • Investigative and treatment procedures carried out within organisational policies and guidelines
  • Provide verbal advice to GPs who telephone for assistance
  • Reading and responding to patient’s referral letters
  • Community health promotion activities
  • On call duties

About you

Required skills & experience you will need to be considered for this role:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Vocational registration in a medical speciality
  • Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand with scope of practice
  • A practising certificate with the Medical Council of New Zealand
