Join Us in a Meaningful Role Supporting Tamariki Respiratory Health Across Waitaha

We are offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the respiratory and sleep health of tamariki in Canterbury. This specialised role sits within a supportive, collaborative environment where you - ll have the chance to engage in service development, academic teaching, and clinical leadership.

As a Paediatrician - Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality care to children with respiratory and sleep conditions. Your work will span inpatient, outpatient, and day services, involving diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.

You - ll also play a key role in service development, quality improvement initiatives, and adolescent transition services. Depending on your credentials, your scope may include bronchoscopy procedures and sleep medicine services.

At Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury, our Child Health team is a dedicated and collaborative group committed to advancing paediatric care across the region. We work closely with subspecialties, allied health professionals, and academic partners to deliver comprehensive, whānau-centred services.

Skills and experience

  • Vocational registration (or eligibility) with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  •  Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
  • Recognised training and experience in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine (Paediatric Sleep Medicine desirable)
  • Proven ability to manage acute and chronic respiratory conditions in children
  • A collaborative and respectful approach to multidisciplinary teamwork
