About the Role
We are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to join Te Whatu Ora Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi payroll team to ensure the timely and accurate payments of wages and salaries for 4000+ Te Whatu Ora Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi employees. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working 80 hours per fortnight.
You will be working as part of a cohesive team based at the Tauranga Hospital. Te Whatu Ora Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi process high-volume and complex payroll on a weekly basis.
We can offer you the opportunity to develop and grow your existing payroll skills through exposing you to some complex systems and processes. You will also get the opportunity to work in a fun, friendly and supportive team.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Payroll team consists of 13 staff and is based at Tauranga Hospital. You will get the opportunity to be part of a fun, friendly and supportive team.
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne. We serve a population of approximately 308,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki. Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi is one of the Bay of Plenty's largest employers with over 4500 staff.

About you
We are ideally seeking applicants who have previous experience working in large scale and complex payroll environments. You will have a high level of attention to detail as well as strong investigative skills. You will be able to demonstrate a high degree of accuracy in your work, excellent processing skills and the ability to work well to time frames.
To be successful in this position you will have:
- Several years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing
- Have sound knowledge and understanding of payroll legislation – Holidays Act etc
- Good systems experience, ideally you will have had exposure to a variety of different systems
- High level of communication – dealing with sensitive information with multiple internal customers
- Ability to produce accurate work, sometimes under pressure and to set timeframes
- Willingness to work as a team player
