- Based at Burwood Campus in Older Person's Mental Health

About the Role
Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation is a division of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu ora, Waitaha based at Burwood Hospital. The Burwood Physiotherapy Team is made up of 65 Physiotherapists and 15 Physiotherapy Assistants split into 3 teams including a Musculoskeletal, Neurology and Older Persons team. There are 4 Older Persons Rehab wards and 2 Older Persons Mental Health ( OPMH) wards in the OPH cluster.
As a crucial member of the OPMH Inpatient IDT you will be responsible for carrying out effective patient assessments and formulating patient centred, goal-based treatment plans which facilitate improving function, wellbeing and safe discharges in the 2 OPMH wards. Treatment plans include both individual and group work including daily exercise and relaxation classes.
You will work alongside a full time Physiotherapy assistant and a Physiotherapist who is based in the OPMH day clinic.
There is a culture of support across the OPH cluster and our whole team and you may experience other areas if clinically required.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Carrying out effective patient assessment, evaluation and treatments in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice
- Formulating treatment interventions to meet individual needs in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team
- Ensuring effective communication with other members of the physiotherapy team and wider MDT team
About You
You will be the full time Physiotherapist in Older Persons Mental Health based in Ward AG/BG. Whilst full support and orientation will be given we are seeking an experienced Physiotherapist who has worked in an Older Persons Rehab setting to join the team. It is essential that you hold Registration with the New Zealand Physiotherapy Board with a current Annual Practicing Certificate and have a minimum of 18 months experience. To be successful in this role you will demonstrate the following:
- The ability to hit the ground running with the energy and passion to deliver a high standard of care to patients
- The ability to develop a close working relationship with physiotherapy assistants and the wider physiotherapy team
- Flexibility and adaptability with an enthusiasm for knowledge sharing across and beyond your discipline
- Flexibility to work in any of our rehabilitation areas depending on need in conjunction with the wider interdisciplinary teams
- It is essential that you are a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current practicing certificate to be considered for this role
- You will either be an existing ENABLE assessor or eligible for registration
You will be required to participate on the weekend roster, the amount, the day and the type of roster is negotiable.
