As Planning and Performance Systems Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into actionable insights that will shape strategic decisions. Your expertise will drive the success of planning, reporting, and performance systems, providing vital support for senior leadership, managers, and external stakeholders.  Your reporting and analysis skills will help managers and staff maximise the value of DOC's data assets, tell their performance story and identify trends.

This role will also be central to support embedding DOC's new performance framework, which will change the way we report on our work to the public.

The position will be focussed on:

  • supporting the organisation's business planning systems and processes and the related analysis and reporting cycles
  • reporting on our data, coordinating and preparing accountability documents (such as performance reporting)
  • developing dynamic dashboards, data analysis and visualisations, and reports that tell the story behind the numbers
  • mentoring and uplifting team capability, and playing an advisory role for the business.

 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

If you have some of following, we are keen to hear from you:

  • Strong performance and data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Confidence with complex data sets, with the ability to translate technical jargon into clear, understandable reports for stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and at least three years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong writing skills, with a proven background in reporting and analysis to support insights-driven decision making.
  • Advanced competency in Excel, proficiency in PowerBI highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience of strategic and business planning systems and processes.
  • Proven ability to link performance data to an operating environment.
  • Experience mentoring and developing others.

 

Mō te tīma | About the team

The Integrated Planning and Reporting Team supports Te Papa Atawhai | Department of Conservation (DOC) with non-financial planning and reporting guidance and analysis. You will join a small, distributed team responsible for DOC's planning, analysis and reporting. The team enjoys working collaboratively together, is open to new ideas, shares the workload, and likes having a laugh. The team works together to support specialist interest areas and play to each other's strengths.
