About the Role
The Platform Manager leads at both a strategic and technical level, overseeing the management, optimisation, and performance of key digital platforms. This role is responsible for ensuring that platform services are reliable, secure, and aligned with organisational standards, while driving initiatives that enhance operational excellence, cost-efficiency, and continuous improvement. Working closely with business owners, and other key stakeholders, the Platform Manager ensures seamless integration and alignment of platform services with the overall digital strategy. This role plays a crucial part in supporting integration across environments, enhancing platform capabilities, and delivering on the agreed roadmap to meet evolving business needs.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Platform Manager (Exchange & Teams) role is part of the Digital Workspace team, which operates under Digital Operations within the broader Digital Services function. The Digital Workspace team focuses on delivering a modern, human-centric digital workspace that empowers employees to collaborate and access essential tools through a national IT product catalogue. Digital Operations is responsible for operating, optimising, and modernising the digital infrastructure of Health NZ—an infrastructure considered to be nationally critical. This group ensures the effective operation of digital systems and services that support critical clinical systems, particularly in public hospitals, to maintain and improve essential services.
About you
As an experienced technology leader, you will bring a strong background in overseeing systems performance and delivering effective digital strategies that drive operational excellence. You'll have expertise in managing complex environments, leading teams, and delivering high-quality digital services while balancing innovation with risk management. You will demonstrate a strategic mindset with a strong sense of ownership, excellent stakeholder engagement and vendor management skills, and the ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances and pressure. Additionally, the following skills and experience will contribute to your success in this role:
- Minimum of 10 years of IT experience in a relevant technical field or other leadership roles.
- Minimum 5 years in technical leadership roles and/or responsibilities.
- Proven experience managing Exchange services (Hybrid/O365) and providing both administrative and strategic input.
- Experience managing print platforms, including follow-me/cloud print solutions.
- Demonstrated success managing or influencing the delivery of digital platforms or workforce technologies within complex or matrixed environments.
- A track record of leading discovery, continuous improvement, and platform optimisation initiatives.
- Familiarity with collaboration and workflow tools, particularly Atlassian products such as Jira and ServiceNow.
- Experience developing and maintaining best practices, usage standards, and digital knowledge bases to support platform adoption.
