You  will be part of a wider supportive policy branch where collegiality and delivery of high-quality policy advice lead to better outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealanders. 

 

Mō te tūnga / About the role   

These opportunities sit within the Employment Policy team, which focuses on supporting people getting into, and staying in, work within Aotearoa New Zealand. 

Helping more people into employment is a key priority of the Government.  The Employment Policy team provides policy advice to support this priority and MSD's employment service, including employment programmes for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market.

The Employment Policy team works closely with other teams within the organisation as well as partnering with other government agencies and key external stakeholders. We are a busy, diverse and friendly team.

We're keen to hear from motivated Policy Analysts and Senior Policy Analysts with a track record in policy advice. 

  • You'll need strong analytical and critical thinking ability and excellent judgement.  
  • We're looking for great people skills as you'll be working with stakeholders across our organisation and externally.  
  • We're keen on people who will fit our collegial, supportive culture, and have the action orientation to shape, lead and contribute to policy work that is a priority for Ministers and our Chief Executive. 

 

If you're considering the Senior Policy Analyst role, we'll also expect you to demonstrate: 

  • leadership ability and experience in providing advice on complex issues along with the skills and an interest in coaching and developing others;
  • skills in building relationships and leading engagement with stakeholders, both internally and externally to the Ministry; and
  • experience in enhancing the team's capability, including supporting junior staff with their projects.\

Position Description

Senior Policy Analyst Salary range: $112,372 - $136,429

Policy Analyst Salary range: $78,222 - $94,689
