About the Role 
 
The Pou Ārahi will be responsible for leading out the Rautaki Māori development and delivery of our strategic vision to embed an appreciation of tikanga Māori, te reo Māori, and mātauranga Māori, while increasing awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Te Tiriti) and embedding its intent and value within organisational strategy. You’ll also lead the national development of key Māori partnerships with a focus on building regional relationships and national networks through engagement with iwi and Māori communities in mutually beneficial activities and programmes of work.
 
Skills and Experience

  
We are searching for an accomplished senior leader with a track record of developing strategies and implementing programmes and practices that demonstrate a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori within a commercial organisation.  Ideally you will also bring:

  • Proven experience working in a commercial or state-owned enterprises where partnerships with Māori communities, iwi, hapū and key Māori organisations are prioritised.
  • Leadership at an executive level, working with peers to drive organisational outcomes.
  • The ability to articulate perspectives around te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Experience engaging strategically with iwi and Māori organisations, whānau, hapū and iwi, building trust and relevance with Māori
  • Competency in te reo Māori and tikanga Māori and a demonstrable willingness to share and learn
  • Credibility and mana to influence, build and sustain good relationships with stakeholders including those who have a limited understanding of te ao Māori.
  • Experience leading and developing teams in a medium to large sized organisation.
