Power Systems Technician
Work for PowerNet Limited as a Power Systems Technician in the lower South Island, the best part of New Zealand. PowerNet is an Electricity Distribution company who construct, install and maintain the equipment across their managed networks, including 74 zone substations and over 14,000km of lines and cables.  We are an accredited employer with Immigration New Zealand.
The role is based in Invercargill, the southernmost city in New Zealand with beautiful scenery, a strong sense of community and a healthy work-life balance.

As a Power Systems Technician you will undertake the testing and commissioning of our network equipment to maintain equipment reliability and safety. The work is varied and interesting, with opportunities for personal growth.
This is a permanent position, working 40 hours per week, between Monday and Friday, with opportunity for overtime and on call duties, subject to skills and experience.

About You – Skills and Experience

We’re looking for someone who:
  • Holds a minimum of a Diploma (S4): Electrical Engineering from a recognised University or University of Technology.  
  • Has a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, undertaking planned maintenance, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment and protection schemes in a high voltage industry.
  • Holds a valid motor vehicle drivers’ licence
  • Is medically fit
  • Has a clean criminal record
  • Is registered or eligible to attain a New Zealand Electrical Workers Registration Board practicing licence
  • Has a good level of English written and oral communication skills
  • Has a passion to grow and develop and enjoys working in a small, dedicated team
