About the Role
We’re offering a permanent, part-time opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician to join our Specimen Registration team. This role plays a key part in supporting the laboratory’s operations. Once training is complete, you’ll be part of our 24/7 roster, contributing to essential healthcare services around the clock.
Key responsibilities:
- Receive, label and process specimens according to established protocols and quality standards.
- Perform accurate data entry and maintain comprehensive records of patient and specimen information.
- Prepare specimens for analysis, ensuring proper handling, storage and documentation.
- Manage time effectively to facilitate the prompt distribution of specimens to relevant departments.
- Deliver excellent customer service to patients, clinicians and other healthcare professionals.

The Specimen Services Department plays a crucial role in the healthcare system by managing the collection, processing, and distribution of patient specimens for testing. Operating on a 24/7 roster, the department is staffed by a dedicated team of professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, ensuring specimens are handled accurately and promptly to support timely diagnosis and treatment.
About you
- Demonstrated ability to understand and follow detailed instructions and established operating procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in data entry with accurate typing skills.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Prior laboratory experience is preferred.
