Mō te tūnga | About the role

Our Information Management team in the Infrastructure and Digital Assets group have an exciting opportunity in a recently formed team. We have developed a data and information strategic action plan, and you could be pivotal in driving it forward, shaping initiatives and supporting positive outcomes for Ara Poutama Aotearoa (Department of Corrections).

We're currently looking for a Principal Adviser – Data Management to support operational data governance and take our strategic action plan to the next level. You'll be at the forefront of shaping key processes and practices that promote compliance with critical information legislation while boosting the Departments data management maturity.

As a subject matter expert, you'll guide the development of strategic actions, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop and embed data standards and best practices.

Ultimately this isn't just about systems and processes. It's about people. You'll be a bridge-builder, connecting functions and even external partners. Your ability to translate complex data concepts into compelling narratives will inspire action at all levels.

 

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience

You'll have extensive experience in advising on and delivering to information management needs in large complex environments. You'll also be able to:

  • Design and document data operating model aligned with our objectives and public sector best practice
  • Utilise knowledge of modern data platforms and architecture, coupled with the ability to translate technical concepts into insights.
  • Strengthen the governance of AI, which is effectively underpinned by risk and assurance practices
  • Create a data-driven culture that supports and realises improvement in data management maturity

 

Utu ā-tau | Salary

The midpoint of the salary range is $141,651 per annum and the full range (85%-120%) is $120,404 - $169,982 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
