About the Role
The Principal Advisor Digital Strategy & Policy provides senior-level expert advice and leadership in shaping and guiding digital strategies and operational policies to support Health New Zealand's digital services. Operating at the intersection of technology, health, and government, this role ensures that strategies and policies are practical, integrated, and aligned with both organisational goals and broader government priorities. The Principal Advisor collaborates closely with senior leadership, policy teams, external partners, and global health organisations to deliver evidence-based, forward-thinking approaches that drive positive outcomes across Health New Zealand.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Principal Advisor Digital Strategy & Policy is part of the Digital Health Strategy & Design team—a collaborative, forward-thinking group focused on stakeholder engagement and strategic investment. The team works closely with Regional Digital Directors, Clinical Informatics Directors, and other key partners to develop digital service roadmaps and adaptable solution designs. By leveraging specialist expertise and strong partnerships, the team ensures investment decisions deliver outcomes that are affordable, sustainable, and equitable across Health New Zealand.
About you
As a seasoned principal advisor in strategic planning, policy development, and technology governance, you will have a proven track record of developing and implementing technology strategies that align with organisational goals. You will also have the following skills and experiences that will help you to succeed in the position:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in strategic planning, policy development, and technology governance.
- 8+ years of experience in senior leadership roles in digital health or a related field, with a strong understanding of healthcare systems, processes, and regulations
- Proven track record in developing and implementing technology strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Deep understanding of technology trends, emerging technologies, and their potential impact on the business.
