- Full-time position, Wellington preferred but can be based in any NZTA location

Our Public Transport team brings multi-modal expertise with an innovation lens and an eye out to the future. The team works with central and local government, the private sector and academia to provide diversity of thought, explore innovative transport solutions and build capability across the sector.
Our business is transforming and going through an exciting period of change with the introduction of national ticketing solution and a sector focus on optimising the use of technology systems and lifting the performance of public transport in New Zealand.
As Principal Advisor you will champion the delivery of an integrated approach to public transport technology systems, data and insights for the public transport sector. You will manage and implement a programme of work that includes improving data standards, integrating technology systems within NZTA and across the sector, providing data and insights that supports public transport authorities and enables NZTA to improve its oversight of public transport services and infrastructure.
Key accountabilities include:
- Lead the delivery of national public transport data and insights that enable oversight of and improve delivery of public transport in New Zealand
- Develop and manage a work programme that prioritises and supports public transport data requirements and development projects, including technology system integration, performance of public transport services and benchmarking
- Oversee and deliver national reporting of PTA data and metrics, including SPE measures, key performance indicators, benchmarking and internal and external business reporting.
- Facilitate the integration of data across various systems and platforms, including the national ticketing solution, to create a unified and comprehensive data environment
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure data-driven approaches are integrated into public transport planning and operations

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A knack for identifying the missing pieces of the puzzle and the ability to critically review work to identify what is 'missing' and how/where to fill in the gaps
- Proven expertise and experience working with and/or integrating public transport data, analysis and reporting systems, including proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as Power BI, GIS, Excel.
- Experience working in a complex environment with partners and stakeholders to align evidence, outcomes and prioritise coordinated action.
- Ability to influence and manage effective relationships with external and internal partners and stakeholders
