About the Role

The Immunisation team within the Intelligence Directorate, NPHS, have an opportunity for an experienced Principal Analyst to join the team. A full-time permanent opportunity, leading the development of advice in public health intelligence, supporting the Intelligence Directorate, and the wider organisation

As a Principal Analyst Team Lead, you will provide strong technical or professional subject matter expertise, data analysis activities and interpretation, writing and communication skills in relevant areas.  You will be heavily involved in creating technology solutions and developing insights. You will contribute to and lead engagement with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to informed evidence-based recommendations and decisions. The Team Lead will manage the day-to-day functions of a team of experts.

The NPHS within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. About you

You are someone experienced in successfully developing and implementing programmes or projects across the organisation function with multiple stakeholders. You have proven experience in leading or managing a team. You feel comfortable working in fast-paced and variable work environments. You're able to apply critical thinking and use sound judgement to develop options, effectively communicate them, and provide valuable advice.

  • Needs to draw on either a highly specialised expertise in a specific area or a broad / general range of experience. Typically, a seasoned professional and known as the ‘organisation expert' for an area of domain expertise
  • At least 10-15 years' experience supported with professional and industry qualifications in an area relevant to statistics, data management, data analytics, data science, visual story-telling or other relevant field
  • Experience leading and/or managing a team, including designing and managing a portfolio of work and/or developing and delivering public health intelligence strategy, products and services
  • Experience of successfully developing and implementing programmes or projects across an organisation or function with multiple stakeholders
  • Proven ability in engaging stakeholders with diverse needs and building collaborative networks of influence
  • Deep knowledge and demonstrable experience of programming languages
