It's an exciting time to join our Sector Insights Group – our evidence and insights are highly sought after by leaders across the Ministry of Justice and wider justice sector. Our work is characterised by innovation, quality, and impact.
We are seeking a Principal Analyst to work in our Reporting and Advice team, who generate insights and advice for senior leaders across the justice sector. You will support the Manager Reporting and Advice in the strategic leadership of the team, and drive direction and progress across the team's proactive work programme. You will lead the development and enhancement of compelling products which communicate what decision makers need to know and provide the advice which informs their next steps. Through your strategic and operational contextual knowledge, relationship building and influence with stakeholders dependent on our advice, you will continue to elevate the team's performance stories and advice from interesting, to useful, to used.
- Lead the delivery of high quality reporting and advice that enable great decisions
- Support the design and leadership of the team's short- and long-term work programme
- Coach and support others in the team to succeed
- Actively contribute to a positive team culture

To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about analytical storytelling, be a strategic thinker and relationship builder, and will have:
- strong experience in the delivery of high-quality analysis and written communications targeted to your audience's needs
- a track record of collaborating with stakeholders in your work networks to understand their context and provide reciprocal value
- demonstrated success at a cross-team level in planning, prioritising, and directing work to deliver on short and long-term objectives
- considerable experience of coaching or mentoring more junior colleagues to increase their knowledge or skills
- an innovative approach to enhancing the impact of the work of your team, including promoting new and better processes and ways of working
- experience in communicating with a wide range of audiences on a range of complex issues
- a working knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and the implications of these for the work of Te Tāhū o te Ture – Ministry of Justice
- a tertiary degree in a relevant field.

Utu ā-tau/Salary
The appointing salary for this role will be between $128,129 and $179,192 based on skills and experience.
