H2R Consulting are immediately wanting to connect with principal level data analysts for an interesting piece of work based in Wellington. The organisation we are assisting is looking for an analyst to fill the role of Principal Analyst working within the government sector.

You will be working in an interesting environment with an extremely talented group of individuals with varied backgrounds. This role and the team have an incredibly meaningful and important purpose.

This organisation now requires a Principal Analyst to guide and manage the process of developing more effective data collection, storage, and access system. They require both someone who is not just a highly capable data analyst, but also an effective communicator.

The basics:

  • $100-$120 per hour
  • WFH 1 day per week (potential for more flexibility)
  • 6 months assignment

The Principal Analyst will:

  • Uplift analytics capability maturity across the organisation.
  • Critically synthesises information from a wide variety of domains, uses expert knowledge of the data system and applies sound judgement to draw conclusions.
  • Mentor and coach other analysts, in the application of high level analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Takes responsibility for the safe, secure and ethical data acquisition and use practices. Assesses the integrity of data and carries out good information handling procedures.
  • Cultivate relationships with other professionals / stakeholders, obtaining and sharing information to enhance our data analysis capability.
  • Develop dashboards, presentations and other analytical documents for publication.

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • 5+ years’ experience in data analysis
  • Demonstrated experience in identify evidence gaps and finding innovative solutions to address these in a government or complex environment
  • Experience in collaborating with others to communicate and interpret technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experienced with Excel, Power BI, and others like Snowflake, and Qlik
  • Experience in producing high quality written communication
  • An eye for accuracy and detail along with good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, juggle multiple deliverables, and deliver to deadlines.
  • Awareness and knowledge of the health sector (desirable), the role of public servants, and the machinery of government.
