Principal Policy Advisor - Drive Strategic Impact (6-Month Fixed Term)
Are you a seasoned Principal with a passion for shaping impactful policy and available for a fixed-term engagement? This pivotal role offers the chance to exercise your strategic leadership and intellectual horsepower on some of the most complex issues facing the nation for the next six months. You will leverage your deep understanding of government machinery and policy processes to drive effective solutions and influence key decisions within this period.

Your intellectual agility and sharp thinking allow you to lead and influence effectively across diverse stakeholder groups. You possess a collaborative spirit and a natural ability to build strong relationships, particularly within cross-agency settings. You are also passionate about fostering growth in others through coaching and mentoring.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience
- Extensive experience as a Principal, demonstrating strategic leadership on complex policy problems.
- Deep mastery of the machinery of government, policy processes, and analytical frameworks.
- Proven expertise in economic analysis for public policy, including a strong grasp of market behaviour.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and engagement skills across diverse groups, with experience in a cross-agency environment.
- A highly collaborative operating style.
- Intellectually sharp, capable, and agile in leading, influencing, and manoeuvring through complex political situations and ambiguous environments.
- Adept at coaching and mentoring individuals.
- Experience in, or a strong commitment to developing, your cultural capability and capacity in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and te ao Māori perspectives.
- A tertiary qualification, certification, or experience in finance or economics is desirable.
