Our client is a long-established, family-owned engineering business with over 75 years of experience designing, manufacturing, and maintaining large-scale infrastructure across New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific.

They’ve recently moved into a brand-new, purpose-built, state-of-the-art headquarters and main workshop in Upper Hutt – one of the most advanced engineering facilities in the region. With additional operations in Auckland, Sydney, and Brisbane, this business delivers high-quality fabrication, custom engineering, and precision manufacturing for a wide range of clients and industries.

About the Role

We’re seeking a hands-on and motivated Processing & Fabrication Team Leader to lead a team of 6 in the Upper Hutt facility. In this role, you’ll ensure that fabricated components are delivered on time, to spec, and to the highest quality. You’ll coordinate daily workflows, manage materials, support your team’s development, and drive improvements across fabrication and processing areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the day-to-day operations of the fabrication and processing team

• Allocate labour and resources to meet production schedules

• Monitor quality and reduce defects and material waste

• Implement process improvements to increase efficiency

• Train, mentor and develop team members

• Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams

• Ensure health, safety, and quality standards are met at all times

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience in fabrication, engineering or manufacturing

• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred

• Able to read technical drawings and work to tight quality standards

• Organised, safety-conscious, and quality-focused

• Great communicator with a proactive attitude

• Trade qualification or engineering diploma (ideal)

• Forklift or machinery certifications a bonus
