About the Role
The Product Manager - Diagnostics & Medicines plays a critical national leadership role, providing strategic and operational oversight of digital products and applications within the Diagnostics and Medicines business domains. Working in close partnership with clinical and business leaders, the role influences a broad range of stakeholders to ensure digital solutions align with organisational priorities and deliver improved health outcomes. Leading large, cross-functional teams, the Product Manager directs the work of product owners and team leads, while collaborating with portfolio and application managers to drive delivery. With a strong focus on service management, the role also ensures that systems are well-maintained, continuously improved, and responsive to the day-to-day needs of the health sector.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Product Manager - Diagnostics & Medicines reports into the Portfolio Group Manager - Diagnostics & Medicines, which sits within the Digital Applications & Products function, part of the wider Digital Services function. Digital Applications & Products is focused on reducing duplication and improving alignment across application and product teams, with a strong emphasis on maintaining stability, security, and reliability. The function delivers standard change and supports minor change alongside the Digital Delivery function, prioritising reliability and consistency across services. Teams are structured around the applications and products they support, enabling standardised processes and nationally consistent outcomes. Organised into service portfolios and domains, this structure ensures delivery is aligned to clinical and operational needs while advancing national standardisation efforts.
About you
As an experienced product leader or digital delivery professional, you'll bring expertise in managing complex programmes and delivering digital solutions in Agile environments. You will have experience working with clinicians, stakeholders, and technical teams to drive outcomes and lead high-performing teams. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- 5+ years of experience in leading product management (or experience in a equivilent senior application management role).
- 10-12 years experience working in product ownership and management (or equivalent application management roles).
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex software products to market.
- Extensive experience in managing large and complex portfolios of projects and initiatives.
- Experience motivating and managing teams working in geographically distributed locations.
- Extensive experience working in the New Zealand health sector.
- Experience in working in the Diagnostics and Medicines domains is highly desirable.
