About the Role
The Product Owner - Diagnostics & Medicines is responsible for leading the delivery, vision, and ongoing evolution of Diagnostics and Medicines products. Operating at a delivery level, the Product Owner works in close collaboration with business stakeholders, cross-functional product teams, fellow Product Owners and Managers, Capability Managers, and organisational leaders. The focus is on ensuring these products continue to evolve and deliver value in alignment with organisational goals, while promoting reusability, user-centric design, and continuous improvement.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Product Owner - Diagnostics & Medicines reports into the Portfolio Group Manager - Diagnostics & Medicines, which sits within the Digital Applications & Products function, part of the wider Digital Services function. Digital Applications & Products is focused on reducing duplication and improving alignment across application and product teams, with a strong emphasis on maintaining stability, security, and reliability. The function delivers standard change and supports minor change alongside the Digital Delivery function, prioritising reliability and consistency across services. Teams are structured around the applications and products they support, enabling standardised processes and nationally consistent outcomes. Organised into service portfolios and domains, this structure ensures delivery is aligned to clinical and operational needs while advancing national standardisation efforts.
About you
As an experienced product owner or digital delivery professional, you'll bring a strong understanding of user experience and a proven ability to deliver digital solutions in complex environments. You will have experience working with clinicians, stakeholders, and technical teams to drive meaningful outcomes, supported by a data-informed approach and collaborative mindset. You will also have the following skills and experience to support your success in the role:
- 5+ years of experience in product ownership or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex software products to market.
- Experience working in agile environments and using agile methodologies.
- Experience working with teams in geographically distributed locations.
- Experience working in the New Zealand health sector.
- Experience in working in the Diagnostics and Medicines domains is highly desirable.
