About the role
You will:
- be accountable for district-wide, discipline-specific professional leadership of Audiology
- lead excellence in professional governance, quality practice and professional conduct, contributing to new models of care and workforce planning/development for your profession
- empower the Audiology Service to deliver contemporary evidence-based health and disability services
- provide equity of health provision for Māori
- improve and promote health of the population
- investigate and report on health-related issues to achieve positive health outcomes
- provide advice to and collaborate with the clinical management partnership to promote efficiency, productivity, and patient safety.

About the service
The Audiology Service provides diagnostic and rehabilitative services for children and adults. The Audiology service also provides diagnostic support to Ear, Nose and Throat outpatient clinics and other specialities. Audiology is located in excellent facilities at Wakari Hospital in Dunedin and Southland Hospital in Invercargill. With the opening of the New Dunedin Hospital Outpatient Building, two soundproof rooms co-located with the Ear Nose and Throat Outpatient Service will provide opportunities to build on the strong relationship Audiology shares with the ENT team. There is Professional Leadership responsibility for the Newborn Hearing Screeners and Vision and Hearing Technicians.
About you
Key experience and qualifications:
- Expectation of at least six years practice working in a health or other relevant setting
- Advanced clinical experience and knowledge. Desirable for this to be across a range of settings (hospital and community)
- Demonstrated leadership skills or potential
- Experience of leading, motivating and developing others
- Relevant qualification in Audiology that is recognised and approved by the New Zealand Audiological Society (NZAS) (essential)
- Member of NZAS (essential)
- Holds current Certificate of Clinical Competency (essential)
- Paediatric certificate in relevant clinical area (one or more of VRA, Paediatric Habilitation, ABR testing

Salary range
This role belongs to the PSA/DHBs Allied, Public Health and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between designated B Step 1 (117,420 p.a) and Step 3 ($122,570 p.a pro-rata) of Technical, Designated Allied, Public Health and Technical scale.
