The role/Te mahi
We have a Professional Practice Fellow position available within the Health Sciences Division.
In this role, you will provide effective support to Health Sciences students to enhance their opportunities to succeed academically. In addition, you will lead the Equity group to support students through the admissions process and advocate for equity through Te Kauae Parāoa.
Additional tasks will include:
- developing staff and students' intercultural communication skills.

The successful applicant will be expected to have:
- a tertiary-level qualification in teaching or equivalent
- experience in working with equity group leaders, ideally in relation to preparation for study (or a clear and genuine interest in this work), or equivalent
- excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- an understanding of concepts of intercultural competence
- experience and expertise in delivering workshops, seminars or lectures to groups
- a demonstrable appreciation for the importance of equity in access to education opportunities
- the ability to manage and communicate with individuals and groups with wide-ranging views
- competence in Microsoft Office products and, ideally, eVision
- appreciation of and advocate for a Te Tiriti-led organisation.
Desirable:
- Understanding of the Admissions processes for limited entry programmes, ideally Health Sciences Professional Programmes
- An understanding of concepts of intercultural competence
- Experience and expertise in delivering workshops, seminars or lectures to groups

This is a full-time (0.8 FTE up to 1.0 FTE for the ideal candidate), fixed-term position, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The salary for this position is Teaching and Professional Practice Fellow 1 - $73,166 to $84,878.
