We ensure the safe and efficient storage and distribution of fuels, including jet fuel for Auckland Airport, through a strong safety culture and engineering excellence.
RobLawMax Recruitment has partnered exclusively with WOSL to secure an experienced and driven Project Engineering Team Leader to lead a team of engineers, drive high-priority projects, and contribute to the ongoing safety, performance, and resilience of this nationally significant terminal infrastructure.

About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you’ll lead a team of in-house and contract project engineers. You’ll oversee the successful planning and execution of major engineering projects across WOSL’s terminals, while coaching and developing your team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing team performance, training plans, and project allocations
- Leading strategic and compliance-driven projects from scoping to completion
- Driving Lean project delivery and continuous improvement
- Overseeing HSNO certification and pipe integrity programmes
- Owning project safety reviews, budgets, documentation, and reporting
- Leading the Management of Change (MoC) process for engineering initiatives
- Ensuring cross-functional coordination with maintenance, operations, and HSE
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a team-focused leader who thrives in dynamic, safety-critical environments.
You’ll ideally offer:
- A bachelors degree in Mechanical/ Process Engineering or equivalent
- Proven leadership in engineering/project teams, ideally in large plant or terminal environments
- Strong project management skills – from feasibility to close-out
- Demonstrated ability to prepare business cases and managing tendering process and contract negotiation
- Technical fluency in interpreting drawings, standards, and engineering codes
- Practical knowledge of HSNO, PECPR, and permit-to-work systems
- Experience managing consultants, contractors, and regulatory interfaces
- Sound judgment, planning skills, and calm under pressure
- Experience with Lean principles or continuous improvement is a bonus
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to coach others and influence safely
- Experience in oil, gas, dairy, water, or hazardous environments is highly regarded.
